mangosteen

for voice and piano, or string trio

《⼭⽵》 周淸渠
shān zhú zhōu qīng qú

果中⼭竺堪稱后,
guǒ zhōng shān zhú kān chēng hòu ,
恰似紫⾐裹⽟肌,
qià sì zǐ yī guǒ yù jī ,
顆顆啖來津液潤,
kē kē dàn lái jīn yè rùn ,
榴⾹時節繫⼈思。
liú xiāng shí jié xì rén sī 。

Amongst fruits, the mangosteen reigns as queen,
in purple robes it drapes the jade flesh within.
Each bite is juicy and refreshing,
its scent wafting thoughts of durian season.
